I have had a small taste of publicity this week. I submitted some comments on the BBC's extensive coverage of the fortunes of Marks and Spencers which were used in their NewsWatch programme (on BBC News 24 and BBC 2) and reported on the NewsWatch web site.
My voice was heard on international television!

I'm genuinely pleased for your deserved recognition, however, this is just another example of the pointlessnes of NewsWatch.
The BBC uses NewsWatch to show viewers it really is accountable in the post-Hutton, pre-licence review period, yet it proves time and time again this is nothing more than a sham.
I don't think I've ever seen any of the BBC producers, directors and programme editors dragged into the NewsWatch studio, actually say "Yes, I agree, we were wrong".
All they ever do is listen to viewers' complaints and then simply say: "Well I understand your point of view, but we're the BBC don't you know and you're wrong because we are always right, and we see no reason to change what we do".
Rather than showing the BBC is an accountable and responsible public organization, what NewsWatch actually does is show the BBC has learnt absolutely nothing since Hutton and is blind to the obvious and gross mistakes and lack of balance displayed by its news staff.
I defy anyone to find just one example of someone on NewsWatch taking on board a viewer's comments and accepting that the viewer was right and the BBC was wrong. Any takers?
Thought not.
